Tyler Gregory Okonma, meliorate known equally Tyler, the Creator, is an American rapper, musician, songwriter, record producer, actor, visual artist, designer and comedian. He rose to prominence in the early 2010s as the co-founder and de facto leader of alternative hip hop grouping Odd Hereafter and has performed on and produced songs for nearly every Odd Future release.

Tyler released the albums Wolf (2013) and Ruddy Flop (2015), the latter of which was considered to be a contrast from his previous releases as he experimented with a more melody-focused and jazz-fused sound. His fourth album, Bloom Male child (2017) was met with widespread acclaim. His fifth album, Igor (2019), was also acclaimed by critics, became Tyler'due south starting time number-i album on the Billboard 200, and won Best Rap Album at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

In this article I am going to deconstruct the song 'Come across you Once more' from his Flower Boy album, where Tyler shows all his skills in a very complete album, colored by synthesizers of all kinds.

The construction of the song is as follows, with a beautiful second chord and a descending chromatic chords at the end:

SYNTHS

'See You once again' is mainly composed of a serial of synthesizers accompanied past a pianoforte and a very present voice.

The song begins with a piano with a bright and clear sound that I have recreated with the Arturia Piano V and the American Jazz Studio preset. This piano alternates the lower annotation with the higher notes to offer some boosted motion as the voice develops overhead. For those who are just outset to play the piano, this vocal is a good practise to start to get exercise playing a line that is quite elementary as well as colorful.

In this line, another piano with the aforementioned configuration as well appears repeating some high notes throughout the vocal. Check it out beneath.

At the finish of each bar, a metallic bong sound also appears, making a brief appearance. To recreate this sound I usually use the glockenspiel preset that Ableton comes with by default with some slight adjustments. Heed to the previous pianos below with this added at the stop of the beginning bar.

From the second bar the synthesizers start to announced, starting with a pad sound that I have recreated with two layers of the TAL-U-NO, each one with a dissimilar audio to give it a little more density. You can listen to both below.

Later on, a sub-bass appears accompanied by a kick with an 808 sound. To recreate it, I used the Arturia Mini Five with the following configuration to attain a dense sub-bass punchy sound. Mind to it beneath.

In the concluding role of the poesy, when the phonation of Kali Uchis show upward, a synthesizer with the sound of strings appears, which I usually recreate with the Solina as yous have also seen in my previous articles.

For this song, I created 4 new TAL-U-NO presets, 2 Solina 5 presets, 1 Piano 5 preset, one Mini V preset, and i Stage-76 preset.

VOCALS

In this song, I have encouraged myself to also recreate the voices, since this part is ane of my favorites on the album.

The outcome chain I have used is the aforementioned for all tracks, except for some final EQ setting to differentiate some voices. The effects that I take used are the Autotune Pro 8 by Antares with a slight adjustment without losing the natural graphic symbol of the vocalisation, the Virtual Mix Rack where a microphone emulation, an EQ and a compressor, the FabFilter Pro-DS to correct the pronunciation of some "s", and the FabFilter Pro-Q 3 to give a last EQ to each vox.

To get clearer and closer vocals, I take tried to record fewer song tracks than other tracks. As a main vocal, this fourth dimension I take only recorded a single track panned to the eye, and for the choruses I have recorded 2 additional tracks, each panned to one side.

At the outset of the song, the main song is high-pitched while the choruses are one octave lower, while afterwards the main song is low and the choruses go one octave higher. Listen beneath every bit they complement each other.

En este artículo voy a deconstruir el tema See you Again de su album Flower Boy, donde Tyler demuestra todas sus habilidades en united nations album muy completo, coloreado por sintetizadores de todo tipo.

Esta canción está compuesta principalmente por una serie de sintetizadores acompañados de un piano y una voz muy presente.

La canción comienza con un piano con un sonido brillante y nítido que he recreado con el Piano Five de Arturia y el preset American Jazz Studio. Este piano alterna la nota grave con las más agudas para ofrecer algo de movimiento adicional mientras la voz se desarrolla por encima. Para aquellos que se estén iniciando en tocar el piano, esta canción es un buen ejercicio para empezar a coger practica tocando una línea bastante sencilla a la par que vistosa. Esta línea de piano se repite durante todo el verso. Escúchalo a continuación.

En esta línea, también aparece un piano eléctrico repitiendo unas notas agudas a lo largo de la canción. Escúchalo a continuación.

Al final de cada compás también aparece un sonido de campana metálica haciendo un breve dibujo. Para recrear este sonido suelo usar el preset de glockenspiel que trae por defecto Ableton con unos leves ajustes. Escucha a continuación los pianos anteriores con este añadido al last del compás.

A partir del segundo compás empiezan a aparecer los sintetizadores, comenzando con un sonido de pad que he recreado con dos capas del TAL-U-NO, cada una con un sonido diferente para darle algo más de densidad. Puedes escuchar ambos a continuación.

Más adelante, aparece un sub-bass acompañado de united nations kick con sonido de 808. Para recrearlo he usado el Mini V de Arturia con la siguiente configuración para conseguir un sonido denso en subgraves y con pegada. Escuchalo a continuación.

En la recta final del verso, cuando entra la voz de Kali Uchis en la canción original, aparece un sintetizador con sonido de strings, que suelo recrear con el Solina como también habrás visto en mis anteriores artículos.

Como habrás comprobado, el instrumental es más sencillo de lo que parece, sin necesidad de guitarra o bajo como otras canciones que he analizado. Recuerda que puedes encontrar los presets de los sintetizadores de todas las canciones que he analizado y los projectos de Ableton con todas las pistas en mi página de Patreon para que puedas investigarlos a fondo.

Para esta canción, he creado four presets nuevos de TAL-U-NO, 2 presets de Solina V, 1 preset de Piano V, 1 preset de Mini V y 1 preset de Stage-76.

VOCALS

En esta canción me he animado a recrear también las voces, ya que esta parte es una de mis favoritas del disco, y además la instrumentación es bastante ligera.

La cadena de efectos que he utilizado es la misma para todas las pistas, a excepción de algún ajuste final de EQ para diferenciar algunas voces. Los efectos que he utilizado son el Autotune Pro 8 de Antares con un ajuste leve sin perder el carácter natural de la voz, el Virtual Mix Rack donde se agrupa una emulación de micrófono, una EQ y un compresor, el FabFilter Pro-DS para corregir la pronunciación de algunas "s", y el FabFilter Pro-Q 3 para darle una EQ final a cada voz.

Para conseguir unas voces más nitidas y cercanas, he intentado grabar menos pistas de voz que otros temas. Como main vocal, esta vez he grabado únicamente una sola pista paneada al centro, y para los coros he grabado ii pistas adicionales, cada una paneada a un lado.

Al principio de la canción, la main song es aguda mientras que los coros la acompañan en una octava más abajo, mientras que después la primary vocal es grave y los coros pasan a ser en agudo. Escucha a continuación como se complementan entre sí.
